FAQ’s

Q. I am worried they won’t come in time for a special date/event. What can I do?

A. Order a day or two earlier than you need it. They keep really really well so don’t be afraid to order them in advance.

Alternatively if you are local order to collect instead.

Q. How well do they keep?
A. They are baked fresh to order, and genuinely do keep their freshness very well for at least our recommended best before date. They are better when kept airtight so in a tub/tin and out of the fridge. Some people prefer them in the fridge as they go firmer like fudge but they will dry out quicker. If kept at room temperature they will stay more squishy.
Q. Do they fit through the letterbox?

A. Probably not. They are quite deep brownies so it depends on your letterbox. Box dimensions are 240 x 180 x 50 mm.

Q. Can I freeze them?
A. Yes! We prefer ours fresh. However, they have never been frozen before and therefore can be frozen at home if you wish. Our customers have told us they freeze very well.
Q. Why don’t you do MORE mixed flavour boxes?

A. We usually make everything to order we do do one mixed box that we make in limited quantities and change the flavours with our seasonal menu, click here to see our Lucky Dip box

Q. I am deathly allergic to *insert any food allergy here* can I eat your brownies?

A. PLEASE DO NOT EAT OUR BROWNIES IF YOU HAVE A SERIOUS FOOD ALLERGY. THEY ARE GOOD BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO WARRANT RISKING DEATH. Our kitchen is small, we make everything by hand, and they are unpackaged. We do everything within our power to minimise risk of cross contamination, however, there is a lot that because of our size of business we physically cannot do to properly rule out all risk. Our kitchen contains peanuts, sesame, tree nuts (including walnuts, pecans, pistachio’s, hazelnuts, brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, coconut), lupin, cereals including wheat, oats, rye, barley and spelt (gluten), milk, sulphites, soybeans, egg, fish.

Q. What is the difference between the Cake Hatch opening hours and Bakery opening hours?
A. The bakery opening hours are when we have people in the kitchen baking cakes. We can’t open the Cake Hatch for the full duration of the bakery hours because we can’t always leave certain jobs (e.g. making caramels etc) to make coffees and serve cakes. Therefore we open the Hatch for a shorter time so that we can plan our day to make sure nothing and no one is getting burnt or left unattended in the kitchen whilst we serve customers at the hatch. However, if you have prearranged a collection, making a delivery or need to see us outside of the Cake Hatch opening hours, please ring the bell on the door and someone will come and see you even if the Cake Hatch looks closed.
